I Wan't it All - So What?

21 May, 2012

It may be hard to convince you that I'm not a superstitious person from the name of my blog. But I'm really not. When I was about to decide the name for my blog I had absolutely no clue for a name. My astrological sign was the first thing I noticed on my Blogger profile, and I found that it describes me perfectly. Last time I came across a blog with the name "libra" the title also said something like "Living through one indecision at a time". That's me in a nutshell. I want to say yes to everything. I don't want to exclude art and aesthetics from my life just because I'm doing a business major.  I want to travel, photograph, paint, cook and who knows what else. Once in a while I notice that wanting it all makes me loose focus.

I haven't finished a single painting since February. What is going on with me? I decidedly need a challenge. Something that makes me finish some paintings no matter what. Holly already said she would join me, and I would love it if you would too. I'm thinking about making five things in five weeks - painting five canvases in my case. I'll announce the challenge after my last exam on June 7th.

I love it how we can get together and fuel each others creativity. Don't you? At least it makes me feel perfectly fine about wanting to do so many different things in life.

  3. Bah, I'm completely indecisive too! I need to join your challenge, because my mind has NOT been on painting lately. Your photography is great! Thank you so much for your sweet comments the other day. Happy Monday!

  4. Anna,

I totally relate to having indecision as I'm a libra too. It drives me nuts how I have to weigh everything and second guess things and just not being able to make a quick decision and want it all too. I'll definitely join in on the challenge! I have lots of art projects that haven't been completed. :)

  5. Love this. I sometimes think I have like 12 personalities in my brain who all want to do completely different things! I'm pretty sure I'd rather be this way than be someone who's really hard to inspire and impress. I also think its far more healthy to want experiences than it is to want material goods. I can't wait to see your canvases!

  6. Oooh! That seems like a feasible goal, and I am ready with some free time! I will keep an eye out for your challenge, my friend!

Wishing you quickly through your last exam and final school work...and then you are FREE!

  7. Oh my! I love this post. This is SO me. I just recently learned to say "No" even to myself. It made me feel so old, like I wouldn't take risks but now I understand what I'm feeling is wiser. I'm beginning to sleep a proper 7-8 hours a day and taking only projects that satisfy me both professionally and creatively. I used to say yes to everything, so the opposite of that guy in the movie "Yes man!"

    1. I'm really starting to understand what an important quality it is to be able to say no. I have a lot of learning to do when it comes to that. But loving what you do makes it so difficult!

  9. I think you know I'm totally up for the challenge :)

Normally I am a Leo but I think I must have a secret libra lurking inside me somewhere... I want to do everything too! I just wish we didn't have to sleep and there were 48 hours in a day then I might be able to get all the things I want to do done! There are so many wonderful things to do hey :)

  11. I responded to your comment on my blog, but thought I'd leave a note here, too. Pretty strange we both wrote such similar posts! I feel you on the lack of ability to finish a project. I'm a big offender of not fulling checking something off my list, and it's a habit I want to get rid of. Good idea challenging yourself this way! You'll have to let us know how it goes. :)

  14. Oh yes, Lamina would be great for this challenge!
Mmmm..... maybe I can try and cook five of my mum's Chinese recipes in five week. I'll let you know!
I can't wait to see your five paintings - hopefully that will just add a tiny amount of motivation into your arsenal. :)
Beautiful photo too, Anna. As always.

  16. LIbra describes me so much better than Taurus! Like you, I'm constantly trying balance and be anything and everything. I'm not grounded at all.

5 things in 5 weeks. Can they all be food related? While I lust after the beads at the market with the rest of them, my crafty supplies are in terrible stock...

  17. Oooh this is awesome!! I'm so glad that this is happening! :) It's going to be fun! Woo!

I am so indecisive, too. Ha, maybe I'm part Libra & not Sagittarius. I actually have no idea what it means to be a Sagittarius.
