It probably doesn't come as a surprise to you that I adore gardens and flowers. These are photos from my film photo archives from a couple of summers ago.

I hope you don't mind my constant recycling of old photos the last weeks. I have sold my digital camera and I'm hoping to find a new one with slightly better image quality. I need to find it asap, because in the middle of March S and I are going to San Francisco for two weeks with his work. Can you believe it? It will be so good to finally to see the sun!

Any advise about what camera I should get?

  1. Anna, how exciting!!! I LOVE San Francisco, and you will too. For sure! It's such a great place, with the best food and wine. You have to check out the Ferry Building Farmers market on the pier. Every Saturday, local farmers sell their beautiful organic produce and baked goods. It's heaven!
And wine tasting in Nappa Valley. Hmm, lucky girl :)
As for the camera, I own a Nikon D3100. Really good price for what you get. Got everything I need. Especially for a photography newbie like me...
So, now I totally spamed your comment section..haha

    1. Ah! I definitely will check out the Ferry Building Farmers market - as I love all kinds of Farmers markets! I really can't wait now. I was actually thinking about that camera, or the D5100. I'll have to check out the prices, because I don't want anything too expensive as I would be afraid to use it :) Thank you for another sweet comment :D

  2. I hope you will post about the camera you choose, as I want a new one too and am also overwhelmed by the vast choices!

Even with the photos breaking the rule of thirds....still pretty!

  3. I love the first shot so much!
I spent a few weeks in California a couple of years ago, we didn't make it up to San Fran which was a bit disappointing but I'd really love to go back, hope you have an amazing time!

  4. Hi again. You can absolutely email me if you end up going to Rennes. But, the American students lived with families, not in apartments, so I won't be much help on that front. I can give you my overall impressions of the city and tips on day-trips though. I went on lots of day trips! My email address is nanicherrybear (Nani is the orange dog in my photos) @ yahoo. Of course, the address is all together, no spaces. Have fun in San Francisco. I've been a few times and went again last summer. I finally rented a car and drove up to Napa Valley. It's well worth it.

  6. these pictures are lovely and really make me excited for spring! It was sunny and almost warm in NYC today, it almost feels like spring already! No advice on a camera, sorry, but that'll be a really fun purchase! :)

  7. You probably want a fancier camera, but I absolutely love my Sony cybershot that my hubby gave me for Christmas. However, it's lovely to see some flower pictures, it reminds me that there IS something called spring.

  9. Gorgeous photos!
I'm quite partial to the Canon Rebel t3i So simple to use, and wonderful quality. It offers so much. That's the one I use anyways.

Have fun in San Fran, and don't worry about breaking composition rules! That's the fun!

I love love love my Canon 550D! I know what you mean about having an expensive camera and not wanting to use/hurt it! I don't take my camera out into the world that much because of that... silly hey! :)

    1. Thank you, Lamina! I am seriously considering Canon, but I also want a camera that I need to take out more than my last dsrl, so I will probably choose one that is entry level. Thank you for the tip :)

  11. No advice on the camera front, but how exciting to see San Francisco! It's one of my very favorite cities. I hope the fog lifts and you get abundant sunshine. Also, if you get a chance to see Muir Woods (just north of San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge), do it. Beautiful red wood forests...

  13. This is so inspiring! I have a Canon AE-1 I'm looking to use more and more that my dad gave me. And SF sounds like fun, but wish it was the other side of the US so we can meet up! Keep us in the loop with how it goes!!

  14. I think I already told you this….but I have a Pentax so I can use my analog lenses with it. It's a set-up that suits me as it's good to be shooting totally in manual and the lens quality is so much better!

    1. Sounds perfect actually! Is it a full frame camera that Pentax you are using? I've always been curious about how to use analog lenses on digital cameras.

  18. Hey Anna! ♥ I also love flowers and I have fun photographing them though there aren't so many public gardens in our city so that's a bummer. For the camera, my canon 550d or t2i is my very first dslr and it's very easy to use, and it takes pretty good pictures although I do admit dslrs are a bit on the expensive side and a bit bulky when compared to the point and shoot, but you'll never regret it. ♥
