grateful for fall

24 September, 2011

I can't say things have been great the last couple of weeks. I recently learned that a close family member of mine is seriously ill. It made me think of my father who died of a terminal illness. I've been thinking too much about life, death, religion, the future, the past, the things I regret and what I should be doing with my life.

I'm glad that fall is finally creeping upon us. Maybe the seasons are the only kind of change we know how to tackle. It's repetitive and familiar. And it confirms that we actually made it through yet another year, even though it was difficult at times. I'm grateful for fall.

  1. Yep.. me too.. I love that we have four seasons. It's so incredibly important to keep track of time, which always ends up healing wounds. Eventually.
I'm sorry for things not being so great for you. You've got a friend here :/

  5. Hello. I'm a new reader from Denver, found you on FTLOB. I've been dreading fall but the past few days, I started feeling differently. Fall is a time to be cozy and warm and that sounds good about now. You're right, times of personal change are very difficult, but the changing of the seasons is comforting.

  6. So so sorry about your Uncle... hope he gets better soon!
I too think about all the things I could/should of done with my life.. I do have a few regrets but saying that, I wouldn't be where I am now (with my wonderful man and beautiful little man) if I didn't make those choices... so I think I am where I am suppose to be now and I'm happy to be here... now!! I try to embrace change with open arms... like they say the only constant thing in life is change!!! I love change of the seasons... we are heading in to spring here :)
Hope you feel better soon xxx

  9. Hooray for Fall!

Life can be so hard sometimes, I know. I lost my father five years ago, and it still hurts. But your mom is right, time does ease the pain a little. Hugs!
